Blackjack Tips

Here you will find some general and basic online blackjack tips.
1. Always use basic strategy - If you take a look at the blackjack strategy page you will not only see different betting patterns that you can use, but strategy cards as well. By following the strategy cards you will give your self the best odds over the long term.
2. Avoid paying for any silly blackjack systems or software programs that guarantee you will win all the time. It's all fantasy I'm afraid, nobody can guarantee you will win all the time.
3. If you want the best possible experience of playing blackjack online, play at the casinos recommended on the Online Blackjack home page. We have been playing in online casinos for years and know which ones are fair and which ones are rogues. The casinos on the home page are the fastest paying casinos on the Internet with cash out times of less than 24 hours, giving you the best possible experience.
4. Know your limits and stick to them - Every time you play you should already know how much you're prepared to lose and you should stick to it. It's very tempting to start betting bigger after you've experienced a loss, but usually this just lands you in a bigger hole.
5. Don't be greedy - This is basically the opposite to the above tip. You should always set yourself a profit goal and once you've met it, stop for the day. When you're on a winning run it's easy to get greedy and maybe even over confident, but the house edge will soon take it away for you.
6. Avoid the insurance bet simply because it's a suckers bet. There's more chance of it losing than winning and even on the occasions when you do win, you only break even rather than make profit.
7. Don't try counting cards online because it doesn't work. As discussed on the blackjack card counting page, as cards come out of a shoe the odds change slightly and an edge can be achieved by effectively counting cards (although it's a small advantage).
However this can't be done online because cards are randomly drawn and shuffled so if you were trying to count cards you would be thinking very hard but for no reward.
8. Following on from the point above, if you're going to play blackjack in a land based casino and have intentions of counting cards, ignore all the hype you see in movies like 21 where they're winning hundreds of thousands of dollars in a single night. While counting cards can give you a small advantage, you won't be getting results anything like what they get in the film (or it's very unlikely).
